Adopt A Hive For A Year
Whole Hive ($300)
How it works:
We will purchase a starter (local) bee colony from one of our partner farms.
We will tend and care for this hive throughout the year as a way to expand our high standards of sustainable local beekeeping.
What you receive:
We guarantee a total of 24lbs (2 gallons) of honey shipped to your home. This will be split up in equal parts (4 pounds per shipment - 6 shipments total) and shipped every other month in 1lb or 2lb glass jars.
That’s only $12.5 per/lb compared to our normal retail price of $18 per/lb (for wildflower)($22 for Orange Blossom)
For this first year of testing this concept we will not be charging a higher price for orange blossom.
Half Hive ($175)
How it works:
We will purchase a starter (local) bee colony from one of our partner farms.
We will tend and care for this hive throughout the year as a way to expand our high standards of sustainable local beekeeping.
This hive will be split with another family looking to only have half of a hive for the year.
What you receive:
We guarantee a total of 12lbs (1 gallons) of honey shipped to your home. This will be split up in equal parts (2 pounds per shipment - 6 shipments total) and shipped every other month in 1lb or 2lb glass jars.
That’s only ~$14.58 per/lb compared to our normal retail price of $18 per/lb for wildflower or $22 for Orange Blossom.
For this first year of testing this concept we will not be charging a higher price for orange blossom.
Disclaimer:
While you will not own the hive, think of it as sponsoring a new bee hive to promote all of the good that bees do for us and the environment while getting to enjoy the excess honey they produce.
This is an annual commitment as hive losses are at record highs along with the cost of ongoing materials and maintenance. At the end of a year you would simply renew to continue receiving honey.
